These are live, interactive classes on Zoom.
In FUNctional Yoga Classes, We move our bodies.
We use our muscles from largest to smallest.
We rotate our shoulders, our arms, our hips, our legs, our ankles.
We shake our muscles to help them relax.
We balance on our toes, on one leg, with one foot on a physioball.
We practice getting up and down off the floor.
We build and stretch muscles that help us move, bend, work and play. We are moving our bodies to slow down our aging process.
It works. It feels good. It’s empowering. It’s fun.

FUNctional Yoga Classes for Aging are for women who want to practice movements that help maintain their ability to enjoy life and maintain independence. FUNctional Yoga teaches movements that help us develop and maintain strength, flexibility and balance. We start each class with 20 minutes of mat yoga. We lie on our backs and do yoga poses that help us stretch, strengthen and relax the muscles surrounding the spine. For the rest of the class we use physioballs to support movement, stretch and develop abdominal strength. Sitting on a ball, requires use of abdominal muscles and facilitates beneficial and playful movement.
No experience is required for these classes. Each person is supported in starting where they are.
